The Keffiyeh's iconic patterns, while subject to ongoing debate, include three main motifs: fishnets, bold lines, and olive leaves. The design carries profound cultural and historical significance, reflecting Palestine's enduring history and heritage

 The fishnet design symbolizes Palestinians' deep connection to the sea, a representation of collectivism, weaving individuals into a stronger entity, while others see it as reminiscent of barbed wire, acknowledging the nation's occupation.

The bold lines on the keffiyeh are believed to signify historic trade routes or symbolize the barriers hindering Palestinian freedom.

Olive leaves of the Palestinian olive trees, which can live up to 600 years, embody resilience and attachment to the land. 

Approximately one million olive trees, many of which were centuries old, have been uprooted by Israel since 1967. A wider truth emerges with every olive tree that gets burnt, uprooted, and vandalized. There is one side that claims the land as its own by protecting it; and another side that claims it as its own by destroying and eradicating its agricultural history and possible source of livelihood of thousands of families.
